How do I contact a blogger owner? 11 Ways to Find Blogger Contact Information (with Tools)

Do bloggers make themselves accessible to the public? Not all of them do, and sometimes it’s for a valid reason. According to Point Visible, some popular blogs get dozens of pitches from outreach every day; hence they “hide” their contact information to avoid pitch overload. Plus, bloggers also want to know that some effort was put in to obtain their contact details. Whether you are contacting a big-time blogger or a budding one — get the right information to the right blogger.

Here are 11 ways to find a blogger’s (or two) contact details:

1.     GOOGLE SEARCH

It’s embedded in our culture to Google everything. To find your blogger’s details, you’ll at least need to know their first name and the name of their blog. Most bloggers introduce themselves in one section with some basics. Add those details in your Google search if you did not get the result you want on your first try.

Digital Marketing agency REQ suggests that you could try these search formats for their contact information:

  • “First Name Last Name” email

  • “First Name Last Name” Contact information

  • “First Name Last Name” contact

  • “First Name Last Name” writer

  • “First Name Last Name”

  • “Websitetheywritefor.com “Name” Email

For example, the award-winning blog by Deb Perelman is Smitten Kitchen. Her blog has a contact form that requests the reader’s email address instead of providing hers. When we proceeded to Google search for “Smitten Kitchen email” it brought us to the FAQ section in her About page on her blog where she reveals her email address there (in a less SEO way), she says — “If you email me through the main address for this site [the smitten at Gmail dot com]”

2.     SOCIAL MEDIA SEARCH

Bloggers have a strong presence on social media, whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. If a blogger does not have their email address readily on their blog, you will likely find it on their social media channels. Even if it’s not there, having access to their social media allows you to drop them a personal message to communicate. Hubspot encourages straightforward emails and messages when reaching out to a blogger, mostly because they are busy and want to get to know what it’s about to decide on what they will do next, respond or discard.

Journalist-turned-interior designer Will Taylor from Bright Bazaar is another example of a blog with no email address; it has a contact form too. As we said, social media is the next best place to search for contact details. If you go to Will’s Instagram, you’ll see his email listed in his bio like most bloggers.

3.     CONTENT EXPLORER

Ahref’s content explorer allows you to search for content topics and the blogger who wrote that piece of content. Get insights into various links and performance statistics for each page. You can insert the domain of the blog into a third-party plug in to find the email address. Once found, you can work on building blogger outreach efforts to promote content and acquiring backlinks.

4.     THIRD-PARTY PLUG-INS

Buzzmarker

Web-based software company BuzzStream created a plugin named Buzzmarker to make prospecting quicker, turning them into leads and promoting better outreach. You can sign up for a free account to test. Buzzmarker scrapes websites and returns every email address throughout the website. More than an email address finder, it also offers features useful to campaigns. You can bookmark bylines, filter prospects, set prospecting preferences, study key metrics, and more.

Hunter.io

This plugin comes in handy for quick email searches from companies. Create a free account and be entitled to 50 email searches/month. There is a filter of generic or personal email if you want to reach a specific person. Hunter also features a comprehensive series of email templates for cold emails and follow-up emails, categorized by topics such as sales, recruitment, SEO, and more.

Name2Email

Dubbed the champion with a 91% success rate, Ahrefs tested multiple extensions and found it to be the best amongst other worthy mentions like Find That Email, Voila Norbert, and Find That Lead. It has free access, unlimited searches per month, and has a Chrome extension. The only downside is that you will not be able to do your searches in bulk.

5.     MAILING LIST

Subscribing to your target blogger’s mailing list is another method. Popular bloggers have a mailing list that you can subscribe to on their blog, fill in the opt-in form on their blog, and expect to see a welcome sequence email in your inbox within minutes.

Understand that the purpose of subscribing to a blogger’s mailing list is to get updates on what’s upcoming but also to build relationships. Try replying or asking a quick question to one of the emails and see what email address he or she responds with. You can pretty much find it out from the blogger without ever letting them know that it was your intention all along.

6.     ASKING ON TWITTER

Sometimes bloggers include their email addresses in their bio. If they don’t and if you don’t want to be sneaking around getting the blogger’s email address, sometimes asking upfront one of the most fuss-free ways. As long as your Twitter account is your real account that states who you are and somewhat about what you do, bloggers should have no qualms about connecting.

PRO TIP: Use humour or something quirky to get your bloggers attention, like a GIF or a meme. You could also use allmytweets.net to get a full view of your chosen blogger and their past tweets. From there, hit CTRL + F and search for “email” — You’ll find it for sure.

For example, here is famous food blogger Ella Mills of Deliciously Ella Twitter account using allmytweets.net. There are two email addresses found. Try both and get a step closer to working on your outreach.

7.     LINKEDIN SEARCH

This may not have crossed your mind, but LinkedIn offers great networking opportunities because of the community and how the algorithm is structured. So, you’re still searching for this blogger’s email address because it’s nowhere to be found. Ask yourself, does he or she go by their blog or company name or their real name that will help you decide what to search.

In #5, we suggested using Twitter. Let’s take Ella Mills as an example again. If we did not use Twitter to search for her email address, finding it on LinkedIn would work too. She goes by Deliciously Ella, so searching for that would bring you to her business profile with the details as below:

PRO TIP: LinkedIn allows you to filter your search by People or Company, giving you the flexibility to use one detail to narrow down your search. Eg: If you want to approach the founder of Deliciously Ella, you wouldn’t have to know her name (because you can search by company).

8.     THE BLOG ITSELF

You’d be surprised but contact information can be easily missed. Although, most blogs have contact forms and requests for your email address, sometimes it takes a little searching to locate it. Remember to scroll till the bottom and look out for that “CONTACT” button like it in fashion blogger Courtney Quinn’s blog (Colour Me Courtney) or the “ABOUT”  button like women lifestyle blogger Joanna Goddard’s blog (A Cup Of Jo).

9.     CONTACT FORM

If you don’t want to re-engineer the process, you could opt to send a message via the contact form asking them for their contact. We recommend keeping your message simple, also addressing why you’d like to get in touch with them — collaboration, new opportunity, or a news feature.

Take note of the email address that drops you a reply. The message you receive should contain another email address, so it’s multiple email addresses. More popular blogs may have an entire editorial time with respective email addresses for various functions like home and decor blog, Apartment Therapy.

10.     EMAIL PERMUTATOR+

Email permutator tools such as Email Permutator+ functions as a bridge to lead you closer to finding out one’s email address, your blogger in this case. They have been in the market for some time together with the browser extension of LinkedIn Sales Navigator, which are basic tools for marketing and sales.

You’d want to download Sales Navigator Search Plugin for Gmail first. Then, access Email Permutator+ and fill up the details that you know so far. You can even add several domains such as “@gmail.com” or “@hotmail.com”. Next, copy and paste the results into your gmail, hover your mouse over each email address, and Gmail will show you once you’ve found your match!

PRO TIP: Do not send all the email results and see which bounces you could get blacklisted, and your account could get banned.

11.     LIVE CHAT

Not everyone is a brave soul to chat live with a blogger. If you are, it could get you a shot at their contact details fast. Whether on Facebook or LinkedIn, chatting live gives a sense of urgency to most people. But, if they are busy or famous bloggers, they may not reply, so craft your opening line well (perhaps something funny or quirky). Either way, worth a shot.
